Brand identity design: logo, colour, type and imagery

Recognisable before anyone reads a word.

nuordinary designs brand identities for established organisations across Canada: the logo, colour, typography, imagery and rules that make you recognisable. Every identity comes out of the brand strategy, so it says something true about the business rather than following the latest design trend.

Good identities are decided, not decorated.

A logo on its own does very little. What makes a brand recognisable is a system: the same few choices, made well and repeated everywhere people meet you.

That system has to work on a phone screen, a truck, a sign, a form, a slide and a social post. It has to be clear to a busy customer and easy for your team to use.

We design the identity once the strategy is set, so every choice has a reason.

What you get

  1. 01

A logo and marks, built for small screens first.

Is this right for you?

A good fit if

  • Your logo or look no longer fits the business you’ve become.
  • Your brand looks different on every channel.
  • You need an identity that holds up in healthcare, industrial or boardroom settings.

Not the right fit if

  • You want an identity before deciding what the brand stands for.
  • You want something that looks like a competitor.

Pricing

How pricing works

Every engagement starts with the truth about where you are and what you’re trying to change. Then you get the scope and the price in writing before any work starts: a defined project, a monthly arrangement or a mix of the two. You only pay for what the outcome needs.

Brand work follows the same six moves as everything nuordinary does: See, Define, Map, Build, Move and Next. We measure the movement, not the activity, and when the work is done we ask: Where next?

Questions

What files do we get with a brand identity?

Every logo version in the formats you need for print, web and signage, colour values for print and screen, font details, templates and a guidelines document.

Is accessibility considered in the identity?

Yes. nuordinary tests colours for contrast against WCAG 2.2 AA so text stays readable, and designs the system to work for people with low vision or colour blindness.

Do you check trademarks?

We run an initial search on names and marks, and recommend a trademark lawyer for clearance and registration before you commit. That step protects the investment.

How many design directions will we see?

nuordinary develops a small number of distinct directions from the strategy, then refines the one you choose. The exact number is set in the brief before work starts.
