nuordinary

Business strategy consulting for established Canadian businesses

Some problems aren’t marketing problems.

nuordinary’s business strategy work is for owners and leadership teams who know the business needs to change but aren’t sure what to change first. We look at the whole organisation, from customers and pricing to operations and technology, and set out the decisions that will move it.

The business has outgrown the way it operates.

It happens to good businesses. The model that got you here starts to strain. The owner is in every decision. The team is working around processes nobody designed. The numbers are fine, but the next level feels further away every year.

Business strategy steps back from the day-to-day and asks what the business is now, what it could become and what stands between the two.

Sometimes the answer is growth. Sometimes it’s focus: fewer services, better customers, a different price. Sometimes it’s the systems underneath.

What you get

  1. 01

An honest picture of where the business is: what’s working, what’s holding it back, what’s missing.

  2. 02

A clear definition of where you want to go, in measures you choose.

  3. 03

The few changes that matter most, in order.

  4. 04

What each change needs: people, money, systems and time.

  5. 05

A plan your team can carry, with owners and dates.

  6. 06

A review point, so the plan changes when the business does.

Is this right for you?

A good fit if

  • You’re the owner, and the business still depends on you for everything.
  • You’re planning a succession, an expansion or a new line of business.
  • Your leadership team agrees something must change, but not on what.

Not the right fit if

  • You want a consultant to make the decisions for you.
  • You need a business plan for a bank loan by Friday.

Pricing

How pricing works

Every engagement starts with the truth about where you are and what you’re trying to change. Then you get the scope and the price in writing before any work starts: a defined project, a monthly arrangement or a mix of the two. You only pay for what the outcome needs.

Strategy work follows the same six moves as everything nuordinary does: See, Define, Map, Build, Move and Next. We measure the movement, not the activity, and when the work is done we ask: Where next?

Questions

What is business strategy, in plain terms?

It’s deciding what the business is trying to become and the few choices that will get it there: which customers, which offers, what price, what to stop doing, and what has to change inside the business to support it.

Is business strategy only for big companies?

No. nuordinary is built for established local businesses, practices, manufacturers and nonprofits. Size matters less than having built something worth building on.

Do you work with the owner or the whole team?

Both. The owner or leadership team sets the direction. We also talk to the people who do the work and, where it helps, to customers, because they see things the boardroom doesn’t.

What happens after the strategy?

You can carry it out yourselves, or nuordinary can build the parts that need building: brand, website, marketing, systems or AI. The strategy doesn’t assume we’ll do the work.
